Jaguars 13 Eagles 6
I hope the Eagles go into the bye week, and really think about things. They are playing lousy, and they need to get their heads out their asses, and play some Eagle football
Another thing, this game was on CBS, normally Sunday games are on Fox but since the Jags are an AFC team, and this is a home game for the Eagles, its on CBS. It seemed like every ten seconds they were going to a game break, and giving us updates on the other 100 games. Personally, I don't care, I only care about the current game. They can show highlights of the other games at halftime. It was very annoying, it seemed to happen more in the first half than in the second.
Thank goodness next week is the bye week, at least they can't lose that one.

Buccaneers 23 Eagles 21
Tampa Bay jumped off to an early lead thanks in no part to Donovan McNabb's three interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns. The slow start, lack of offense, and of course turnovers in the first half was again factors in this loss. At the end of the first half I feel it was a bad decision not to kick the field goal. Instead, McNabb throws the ball to the two yard line with no time left on the clock. It would have been better to put three points on the board, than the zero they had, and as it turns out, it would have been a factor in the outcome of the game.
The Eagles offense put up some great numbers today of course all those numbers don't mean squat if the final score is less than your opponents. Brian Westbrook had a heck of a game, 101 yards on the ground, 113 yards in receiving, with one touchdown, on a great run after the catch. Had the Eagles won, Westbrook would have been a hero in this town.
The defense, was okay, missed some tackels, and the 30 yard penalty by McDougle (15 for face mask, and another 15 for kicking the flag) was inexcusable. Sean Considine played a great game in his first start at strong safety.
Once again, dumb mistakes, dropped passes, and poor execution were major factors in this loss. The Eagles are now 4-3. Coach Reid can't take the blame for this one. McNabb's interceptions, dumb penalties, and a once in a lifetime kick by Matt Bryant cost this game.
Its a shame, the Eagles came back strong to almost win this game, but their slow start again in this game killed them.
Next up the Jaguars, here at the Linc. Should be an interesting game. Let's see some better execution, and some offense in the whole game this time. Put the Jag's away early, and go into the bye week on a postive note.
C'mon fellows, lets get your heads in the game, the whole game, not just the second half

On Kids and Sports
My beef even when coaching at that level is some of the parents, and as the kids get older, it seems to getting worse. My paramount complaint is the parents who insist on coaching their kids from the sidelines. I find this only confuses the kids, and disrupts the flow of the game. I told my girls when I coached, that when you are on the field, you are to listen to me, and the other coaches only. Its hard sometimes, especially when the girls were as young as they were. I told the parents the same thing, and asked them nicely to respect what I am doing. I emphasized to the parents that I was always open to suggestions, criticisms, and feedback, but only after games or practices. Most of the parents were very supportive and were great to work with.
My daughter moved up this past year to a traveling league, where the games counted, and things were a little more serious. I was no longer a coach (although there were a few times, that I was asked to be a base coach when one of the other coaches were unavailable) but a parent. The coach of her team was very knowledgable and worked well with the girls, of course he played favorites, and his two daughters had little or no respect for the other players, parents, or coaches. I attended most of her practices and games, and when I did I sat quietly and observed. Of course during the games I cheered just as loud as other parents, but I never jeered.
My rule of thumb is/was always, when I coach, I coach, when I am a parent, I parent and let the coaches coach. I wish other parents would follow this simple rule. There is nothing more annoying than seeing other parents yelling out instructions to their or other kids, and the coaches are telling them to do something else. More often than not, the kids end up with a blank stare on their face, dazed and confused. If there was something that my daughter did that I thought she could do better, I always waited until we got home, or we practiced it later. I always encouraged her to do her best, and that her mom and I would be proud of her no matter how she or the team did. My bottom line was that I wanted her to have fun, and learn the value of working with and being part of a team.
Recently we were at my son's soccer game and one of the parents, who happened to be one of the coaches wife, started yelling at the official, (who was only about 12 years old). I was mortified. Yelling at officials is totally uncalled, especially young kids who are just learning. It took all my self control not to tell this lady to sit down and be quiet. As a parent I was embarassed.
Sports can teach us many things, and competition is good, but the life's lessons such as teamwork, dedication, and hardwork are much more important. The principal reason for kids sports is that the kids have fun whilst participating in a sport. If the kids aren't having fun then what is the point.
Let the kids be kids.

The Do Not Call List
- Ed Rendell
- Bill Clinton
- John McCain
- Laura Bush
- George Bush
Phone rings, hello, hello, finally the computer rolls the tape, and the message begins. I usually wait about eight seconds before I hang up, and that's only because I want to see who is calling me. The best is when I check my voice mail when I get home, and the message is cut off at the beginning.
I honestly don't think that these calls make a darn bit of difference nor do will they change who I am voting. I don't care who says that I should vote XX candidate, most of those folks could care less nor do they have any stake in what happens here in PA, with the exception of Governor Rendell, who is pitching for the seventh district Congressional candidate.
I really despise this time of the year, all the negative ads on TV, phone calls, and junk mail/email, and the best part is that most of the time they want money too. I may just give money to the candidates NOT to call me or send me any crap in the mail
The first candidate the says he/she will amend the do not call list to include election phone calls gets my vote

Eagles 24 Saints 27
Normally the Eagles crash in the fourth quarter, yesterday, they decided not to show up until the second half. Michael Lewis, the one time pro bowl safety messed up again, and a costly twelve men on the field penalty are also to blame as well. New Orleans played a great game, don't get me wrong, their use of the three step drop, which didn't allow the oft formidable pass rush of the Eagles to get to Brees was well executed. Sean Payton coached a heckuva game.
The Eagles clock management and use of timeouts is again being called into question. There is no way that the Saints should have been able to roll off 1:57 of the final two minutes that setup the winning field goal.
The local folks here on sports radio are saying that the players were emotionally drained from last week's big win here in Philly versus the Cowboys. I say that is a crock. These guys are professionals and have been playing ball most of their lives. Its all about execution or lack there of.
This is (still) a good Eagles team, who was beaten by a better coached Saints team. The Saints showed up, the Eagles didn't

Movie Car Chases
This love for cars has also really made me turn to Speed TV for more information on cars, and my favorite show on Speed is Pinks. I have also subscribed to four car magazines
I have always been a big fan a car chases, ever since I saw the French Connection many years ago, I have been fascinated with well done, high speed, high octane car chases.
The other morning while riding my bike inside, I turned on the TV and I had left it on Speed, and the movie Gone in Sixty Seconds was on, the 1974 version. Until then, I never realized that the 2000 version was a remake. I picked up the movie about five minutes into the chase scene, which unbeknownst to me last about forty minutes. My bike rides last about 30-35 minutes, so I was able to see most of the chase. I must say, it was very well done, a lot of great driving and crashing. I liked this movie so much that I ordered it and the remake from Amazon that morning and I plan on watching them both tomorrow afternoon.
Until I saw the Gone In Sixty Seconds chase Tuesday morning, my favorite chase scene was from Bullitt, another DVD that I bought just for the chase, IMHO the rest of the movie sucked. This classic move has the GT350 and Dodge Charger barrel assing through the streets of San Francisco has some of the best stunt driving I have ever seen.
Continuing on, my other favorite chases are:
- The Blues Brothers
- The French Connection
I have to give a plug as well to the movie The Terminator 3. The fact that they use a heavy duty crane make this one of the most unique chases ever. Even if you just watch that scene which is in the early stages of the movie, its well worth it.
According to some of my friends, The Bourne Identity and The Matrix have some good chases as well, so I will I have to check those movies out. If you can think of some others, let me know, and I will check them out.

T Who?
This was one of the best game's I have seen in a long time. Until Lito intercepted the ball at the end of the game and returned it for a touchdown, I was on the edge of my seat. Very nerve racking, and if you have a heart condition like me, its even worse.
It was great seeing TO jawing at his teammates, and him not being on our team. He is such an ass. Dallas deserves a player like him.
This was a team win, then entire Eagles team should be congratulated, on an awesome win. You guys done the city proud

Politics as usual
Maybe after this election cycle is over, I will change party's, and become an independent. Both party's are so out of touch with the electorate. I am sick and tired of both of their dirty tricks, politics, and lack of foresight.
and so it goes

Gun Violence
Last week, here in Philly, a five year old girl was shot and killed, she was sitting in her mother's car. The girl was an innocent victim. The police have a suspect in custody.
Personally I do not own any firearms. The problem as I see it, is all the illegal guns that are on the streets. I think there needs to be tougher enforcement and more vigilance placed on getting these guns off the streets and out of the hands of those who use them. Also, the penalties for possessing firearms illegally need to be enforced and applied more.
I realize that there are many responsible gun owners out there, and I am not advocating stricter laws, what I want to see is those that have obtained, or whom are in the business of dealing illegal firearms be dealt with more severely. Get the guns off the streets, as well as those who use them, that is what is needed
How many more people will need to die before something is done. Its time to wake up.

Movie Review: Invincible (2006)
Summary: When part time bartender and full time Eagles fan Vince Papale tries out for the team during an open call, he makes the team in a complete twist of fate. Invincible is a story of Papale's career with the Eagles and his personal struggles and triumphs.
summary from IMDB
We all saw this last night, having lived in the Philadelphia area all of my life, I knew the Vince Papale story very well. In fact he grew up about a ½ mile from where I lived most of my life. The movie accurately captures and portrays the love and passion the Philly folks have for the Eagles.
Its always neat seeing a movie that is made in your home town, and about a story you know a lot about. The producers did a great job recreating 1970's Philadelphia, and even Vet stadium, which was blown up in 2004
Even my daughter the non-football fan really enjoyed the movie. We are definitely getting this on DVD. Its a great movie that the entire family can watch, very little language, or sexual content. You walk out that inspired and awed.
