2006 Year In Review

Well it was  a tough year for me overall.  Fitness wise my cycling mileage was down from my 2005 totals.  In 2005 I rode over 2600 miles.  In 2006, I managed only 2,171.42.  Not too bad considering I took almost three months off due to some uncertainty with the MS.  Those three months not withstanding I probably would have exceeded my 2005 totals, considering that I average over 225 miles per month.  I did manage to have over a 300 mile month, in November, 341.20.  I rode almost over day that month, only missing four days.

I mentioned above the possibility of an MS diagnosis.  Early in the year I started experiencing severe back pain, and went to my GP, who referred me to a Physiatrist.  During the physiatrist visit he noticed some strange neurological stuff, and sent me to a Neurologist over at Lankenau Hospital.  He ran a battery of test, save for an MRI (because of my defibrillator I can't get one), and so far everything has been inconclusive.  He then sent me down to a MS specialist at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.  I have seen him twice, and he has ordered some more tests and has started me on some medication.   I see him again in March 2007.

The latter part of the year was even tougher, I basically had a nervous breakdown, and have been out of work since 08 December 2006.  I am currently in a partial hospitalization program, and plan on returning to work full time in the latter part of January

The kids are doing great, Michael made his first confession, and will make his first communion in the Spring of 2007.  Kim is in fifth grade, and is doing well

Jen graduated from St Joseph's University with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and had started teaching at Chester Community Charter School in Chester.

Hopefully 2007 will be a better year, and that I can get a definitive diagnosis on whether or not I have MS or not

Best wishes to all
