After a slow start by Donovan McNabb, the Eagles offense though the had trouble in the red zone, prevailed over the Seahawks, 26-7
Second year tight end Brent Celek had a record setting game catching six balls, for 131 yards, a record for an Eagles tight end. McNabb ended the day 28/43 for 349 yards, with two touchdowns, and one interception (which was a pick in the end zone), after starting the game throwing balls in the dirt, or over the heads of his receivers he got his composure and starting throwing strikes to his receiver. One of his touchdowns was to offensive lineman Todd Herremans, who lined up as an eligible receiver, who caught a one yard pass from McNabb.
After the Seahawks came out firing, scoring on their first possession, a 90 yard pass to Koren Robinson, from backup QB Seneca Wallace, and the Eagles came up with four straight three and outs, it looked like it was going to be a long afternoon for the Eagles. The Birds managed to even up the score before the half, and then came up firing in the second half, and kicker David Akers added four field goals to secure the victory for the birds.
So with the Cowboys losing, the Eagles are now tied with the Cowboys at 5-3, with the 7-1 Giants coming to town next Sunday night for a prime time pivotal division game.

Three Down One To Go!
Well the bats really came to life last night in South Philly as the Phillies pounded the Rays, 10-2, winning game four of the world series, and taking a 3-1 lead. Heck even Joe Blanton the Phillies starting pitcher went yard...the first home run in his career.
After three games that were nail biters, especially Saturday nights. it was nice to see the Phillies put some runs on the board, and play long ball.
The first championship Philadelphia has seen in over 25 years could happed tonight. I am sure the town will be rocking all day.
Oh and the Eagles had a nice W yesterday. Brian Westbrook looked no worse for the wear after missing a couple of games with injuries. He scored twice, rushing for a 167 yards (which almost his total yardage cumulative for the season), and catching six balls for 42 yards. Donovan McNabb threw for 253 yards, but was only 19/34, with a lot of his misses being thrown way over his receivers heads, which is uncharacteristic for McNabb since most of his misses generally are at his receivers feet. One nice thing to see was McNabb running the ball. Even though he only had 25 yards on six carries, one of them being a touchdown, he showed how much of a threat he can be with his legs.
So it was a good day to be a sports fan here in the Philly area. Let's hope Cole Hamels can pitch another gem tonight, and the Phillies bring home a championship to the city.
It's been long enough

Eagles 20 Bears 24
Well, another week, another ugly game. The Eagles lost to the mediocre Chicago Bears 24-20 once again stinking it up on the national stage in prime time. The Eagles were once again without star Brian Westbrook, who was inactive for last night's game with an ankle injury that was sustained during last weeks game.
The offense should some sporadic signs of life, but when they needed the big play, the came up short. WR DeSean Jackson, showed his talents off again, in both running (2-35), and receiving (5-71, 1 TD (this time making sure he was in the end zone this time)), but I will fall short of a coronation ceremony since his muffed punt led to a Bears TD, and on a subsequent punt he let it roll and the Bears were able to down it deep in Eagles territory.
Even the venerable place kicker David Akers missed two field goals, yeah one was from 51 yards out, but the other one bonked off the right upright. The last couple of years his inconsistency has been a problem for the Eagles. The excuse of getting used to a new holder should no longer be a factor. Akers needs to start nailing these field goals. The two misses last night cost the Eagles the game, although the offense lack of putting the ball in the end zone is the bigger issue.
The defense and special teams came up with big games. The special teams making the ever dangerous Devin Hester a non factor in punt returns, although he did almost bust a kickoff return, but was stopped by kicker David Akers on a remarkable play, which almost makes up for his FG misses.
Next week the Eagles host division rival Washington in an important must win game. The Eagles are last in the division and need a division win to keep pace with the Giant and Cowboys. This should be interesting next week, as a game five if necessary in the NLDS would be on Sunday as well at Citizens Bank Park, and if that happens (and I hope it doesn't) parking, etc will be a nightmare, so the best seat for both games will be right here at my house.
The only consolation to yesterday's Eagles loss was that the Cowboy's got smacked by the Redskins.
Looks like its going to be one of those roller coaster seasons yet again.

Eagles 15 Steelers 6
In a game that Stillers QB Ben Roethlisberger spent a good portion of the game on his back (sacked nine times) or running for his life, in what ultimately became a game of field position, the Eagles prevailed over their cross state rivals 15-6.
QB Donovan McNabb, delayed his return in the second half, and backup QB Kevin Kolb, got a chance for a few snaps. Despite McNabb's delayed return, he was pretty effective today, completing 24 of 35 passes, but only for 196 yards, and one touchdown. With that TD pass, McNabb surpassed infamous QB Ron Jaworksi for most TD passes by an Eagles QB (176). Most of McNabb's passes were short dump offs, and anytime he tried throwing the long ball, it was too long, too short, picked off, or off target.
One big concern is the apparent ankle injury to RB Brian Westbrook who left the game early in the first quarter. Looking at replay's of the injury, it looks like he stepped on one of his own players and may have tweaked it a little bit, but perhaps there is more to it, as he didn't return to the field of play for the remainder of the game.
Any questions that were raised (including your's truly) about Brian Dawkins ability to keep pace, was put to rest as he came up big today, compiling five tackles, two assists, one sack and one forced fumble.
My player of the game was former Australian rules football player turned NFL punter Sav Rocca, who came up with a couple of booming punts three of which pinned the Stillers deep in Eagles territory, one of which led to a two point safety. Kicker David Akers secured the victory with a late 31 yarder field goal
Overall a pretty lackluster offensive performance by both teams, the Eagles defense came up big today, getting in quarterbacks faces, and holding the Stillers less than 200 yards of total offense.
Next week the Eagles travel to Chicago to face the 1-2 Bears in a Sunday night prime time game.
Let's hope the Westbrook injury isn't to serious, Buckhalter and Bookers are good backup and role players but the absence of Westbrook was definitely felt today.

Eagles 37 Cowboys 41
Although the outcome wasn't exactly the way Eagles fans would have liked to have been, in one of the most exciting and highest scoring MNF games in a long time, the Cowboys bettered the Eagles by a score of 41-37
The first half of the game was a clinic in scoring, as both teams, put a combined total of 54 points, with the lead changing hand multiple times.
Once the second half got under way, the tone and momentum of the game slowed down immensely.
The Donovan McNabb that is so famous for his line drives into ground, and over throws came out in force in the second quarter. After a near perfect game this week, as well as a first half last night, he fell right back into his old ways, as well as being a part of two fumbles, one of which probably cost the game, as the Cowboys scored on the subsequent drive.
The defense played okay, but gave up way too many points. Brian Dawkins, as much as I love the guy, and what he has brought to this team over the years, got burned too many times yesterday. His age is definitely starting too show, and as much as an asset his veteran leadership is too this team, his on field skills are drastically weakening, and are becoming a liability. Of course next week, he could come out like a beast and have a phenomenal game, and I as well as lot of others will eat crow.
As exciting as the game was, I would have liked to have seen the Eagles come out with a W, especially in Dallas. It was nice that TO was shut down in the second half after his big TD
Probably beating a dead horse here, but DeSean Jackson's bonehead play that negated a touchdown, was just plain stupid, and I am sure that Coach Reid can and will give him an earful about that, so there is no reason for me to preach about that. Thank goodness B-West punched it in on the next play, at least the Eagles salvaged Jackson's stupidity.
So the Eagles are 1-1 now, with the Stillers (sic) coming into town Sunday for a intrastate match up.

Eagles 38 Rams 3
The Philadelphia Eagles sent a message to their NFC East confreres today, by stomping the St. Louis Rams 38-3, in the opening game of the 2008 season, as well as the home opener. QB Donovan McNabb came out with gun's ablazing, despite not having his two starting wide receivers. McNabb went 21/33 for 361 yards, and three touchdowns. The Eagles racked up a total net yardage of 522.
Rookie DeSean Jackson was impressive in his NFL debut, catching 6 balls for 106 yards, and was equally impressive in returning punts, returning eight punts for 97 yards, and almost busting one loose for a touchdown.
Also, the Eagles defense played with a vengeance, holding the Rams to only a field goal, and holding the Rams to only eight first downs, and a 166 net yardage of offense.
The Eagles really impressed me today, in almost of completely mistake free game, save for a few drops by LJ Smith, and a rare two fumbles (but not turnovered) by Brian Westbrook. Both offense and defense played very well, and I hope this continues through the season.
It was nice to see Kevin Kolb get some rep's in as well, although I would have like to have seen him throw the ball more than he did, instead of just handing the ball off.
Big test next Monday night in prime time, as the Eagles travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys in an early season NFC East match up.
Well done Coach Reid, and staff, let's keep the good times rolling, and I'd like to see the voracity next week in Dallas.

2007: A Retrospective
As with any year, there were a lot of ups and downs, both figuratively and literally. Overall the downs outdrew the ups. Most of the downs came in the results of slips and falls, which although sporadic, and caused no serious injuries save for my ego, were certainly frustrating to deal with.
Of course the big blow came in July, when the neurologist finally dropped the MS bomb on me. Although we both had suspected and expected to finally hear him say it, albeit we did have to ask him directly, was certainly a shock to say the least.
So with that, came monthly IV infusions, which take about 1½-2 hours, and some more questions and further exacerbations of the disease. Most notably cognitive issues, with speaking, reading, and sometimes, typing. The speaking and reading when combined can be most troublesome as I am a lector at our parish, and have had a more than a few faux pas whilst reading. Most of them, were barely noticeable, only to me. I did have a minor flub during the mass of thanksgiving with Cardinal Foley during the first reading, which could very well have been perceived as nerves. I did however nail the second reading.
On the positive side, I am still able to ride my bike although still inside, I managed to crank out, 2,361.30 miles. It could have been more, but due to some physical and mental issues I took some time off, most of it was during the summer, when it was just too hot to ride, and I have to be careful with the heat.
More on the positive, the kids are doing great, both are great students, and are active in sports. I coach my daughters softball team.
The Mrs continues to work as both a teacher and part time nurse, while auspiciously maintaining order in an often chaotic household.
Perhaps the highlight of the year, was the naming of John Patrick Foley to the College of Cardinals, and his subsequent visit to our parish to celebrate mass. It was a very monumental night for my family and me, as well as our entire parish community
No retrospect would complete without at least a mention of the big boned cat. He still manages to get his 21-22 hours of sleep a day. This year he managed to kill at least five mice, and one bird. Four mice were in the house, one and the bird were outside...not too bad for a cat who is sans front claws. He also continues to be a thorn in the Mrs's side, as they clash over the sleeping arrangements...he wants to sleep with us, and she doesn't want him in our room. Its never ending battle.
On the sports front, the Phillies made the post-season for the first time in 14 years, only to be swept in the NLDS. All the excitement was short lived, it was a fun ride for the Phillies this year...side note, they lost their 10,000th game in franchise history, and your's truly was in attendance for the game. Although it's not a record they were happy to break, it was bound to happen in a franchise that has been around as long as they have.
The Eagles finished the year 8-8, missing the playoffs on the tiebreaker. A lot of questions need to be answered about the team, and the off season, should be very interesting to say the least. Most of which will be interesting fodder for the local radio and print media to speculate on, as well as your author.
Stay tuned to this blog, as there will be plenty more coming, in all aspects of sports, MS, and as the race for the White House heats up, I will be posting more and more about that as well.
Enjoy 2008

Eagles 17 Bills 9
In a season that had more downs than ups, the Philadelphia Eagles ended the season on a positive note, besting the Bills 17-9. In a game where in neither team had anything to play for save for a .500 record, both teams came out as if they had something to prove.
QB Donovan McNabb, perhaps silenced some of his critics today, by having one of his better games this year, completing, 29 of 41 passes, with one touchdown throw, and one costly red zone interception. Brian Westbrook played minimal today, but had enough yardage to break the Eagles franchise single season record for yards from scrimmage, with 2,015, a record previous held by Wilbert Montgomery. Westbrook also set a single season record for most reception with 89, a record previously held by Irving Fryar. Westbrook then sat out the second ½, a decision which I am sure will be questioned.
The Eagles defense came up big today, despite missing pro bowl safety Brian Dawkins, and CB Lito Sheppard, holding the Bills to only three field goals, and less than 300 yards of offense. Perhaps the best defensive state was the Bills third down efficiency (2-12) and red zone efficiency, (0-4). The Eagles red zone defense has been very impressive of late, and has saved many a touchdown.
While not a real exciting game, it was nice that the Eagles came out with a win, which was their third in a row...why they started playing some of their best football at the end of the season, is another question that I like to have answered.
I would have liked to have seen the Eagles put up some more points, and then put rookie QB Kevin Kolb in a get some snaps, and experience, but it didn't happen, so the starters save for Westbrook played the entire game.
Now to the off season.

Eagles 38 Saints 23
Well it what was a surprise to most Eagles fans, the Eagles came out and played like a team that had something to proved, and they sure did, besting the Saints 38-23. After a first quarter that saw five touchdowns scored in the first quarter between both teams, the game slowed down a bit and the it became a defensive game.
Brian Westbrook proved once again his value to the teams, running for a 100 yards, and catching 3 balls for only 9 yards. QB Donovan McNabb after having a tumultuous week with comments that he did or did not make prior to last weeks game, came out and had one heckuva game, completing 24/35 passes, for 263 yards, and throwing three touchdown passes. He got lucky on the first touchdown of the game when he fumbled the ball but it was recovered in the end zone by wide receiver Kevin Curtis.
The defense while playing inconsistently came up big in the third quarter stopping the Saints, four times while the Saints had the ball on one or two yard line. On the the subsequent series the Eagles marched the ball down the field and scored a touchdown, which turns out to have sealed the Saints fate.
It was nice to see the Eagles came out and play as well and as hard as they did today. I only wished they played that way all year, and they may have had a chance to be in the playoffs.
At least the Eagles fans got a nice Christmas present.
Next week Buffalo comes to town for the season finale, in what may very well be Donovan McNabb's last game here in Philadelphia.

Eagles 13 Giants 16
Well the Eagles blew another one here at the Linc, therefore securing them a seat at their homes watching the playoff instead of playing in them.
I must say this has been a very disappointing season, with the exception of the play of Brian Westbrook is having one hell of a year, and if it wasn't for some stellar performances by him, the team would probably have a few more losses than wins. While his numbers today were still impressive, (116 rushing yards on 20 carries, and 38 receiving yards on five catches including the Eagles only touchdown), he did have a costly fumble, I believe it was his first in over 500 touches, which is an incredible feat considering how often he gets the ball.
QB Donovan McNabb returned to the starting role after being out for two weeks. His numbers sucked, 20/30 only 179 yards, but most importantly no interceptions.
I missed most of the first ½ and part of the third quarter since we were at my daughters basketball game. Looks like I missed the most productive and exciting part of the game.
The defense looked so-so, holding Manning to 219 yards and one touchdown and keeping the running game in check.
I think its time to bring rookie Kevin Kolb in and give him chance at running things. He couldn't do any worse than McNabb or Feeley.
I think a major overhaul is needed, and I hope management addresses this in the off season. Eagles fans aren't used to this, and are tired of lip service and canned responses from the coach and ownership.
Its time for action not lip service.

Eagles 24 Seahawks 28
Another game where AJ Feeley comes up small again, especially in the waining seconds, the Eagles dropped a heart breaker to the Seahawks 28-24. This loss puts the Eagles at 5-7, and although they still have a slim chance to make the playoffs, the are mathematically still in the hunt.
Brian Westbrook continues to carry the team on his shoulders, gaining, 93 yards on the ground, 46 in catching, and nearly busting a game winning punt return of 64 yards.
I don't know what else to say, about yesterday's game. Four interceptions, and completing less than ½ of your passes does not win football games. Its obvious, at least to me, that the Eagles need to concentrate more on their running game, as that is where they seem to having the most success. But the Eagles coaching staff is content on throwing the ball, and we see the results.
I have little faith left in the coaching staff, and I think some changes need to made, especially in the play calling. Ownership needs to sit the coaching staff and put their jobs on the line. Also it would be real nice if the ownership would go out and get some talented receivers, and screw whether they get along with Donovan McNabb.
Also, I think its time for the Kevin Kolb era to begin. Feeley just doesn't have what it takes to be an NFL starter...unless you play defense.

Eagles 28 Patriots 31
Well in what expected to be massacre turned out to be a damn good football game. Even though the Eagles were bested by the Patriots, and the Pat's remain undefeated, the Eagles made them earn a victory.
Backup QB AJ Feeley save for his game starting and ending interceptions played a remarkable game, and WR receiver Greg Lewis came up big once again versus the Patriots.
Feeley used eight different receivers (27/42, 345 yards 3 TD/Int) and Coach Reid dialed up some gadget plays and called an aggressive offensive game.
I would be remiss without saying the defense line and linebackers did a hell of a job yesterday, even though Brady was 34/54, 380 yards, he only threw one touchdown, he was sacked three times. The secondary gets a C-, that got burned a few times, but they all earned their money yesterday, breaking up passes and keeping the Patriot's receivers gains to very little as they were often tackled at the point of impact with the ball.
Curious to know why the Jabar Gaffney touchdown at the end of the first half was not reviewed. It was definitely a review-able play, and looked like it could have gone either way. But there wasn't even a look by the booth.
Overall I was very impressed with the way the Eagles came out and played yesterday, and even more so that it was without McNabb. Sure AJ had three interceptions, but his passes were on target, and not at the receivers feet or twenty feet over their heads. Pay attention Donovan, AJ just taught you a big lesson last night.
It would have been nice if the Eagles pulled a win out, and sure the Patriot's faithful and bandwagon jumpers are still pumping their chests about how good their team is, but I am sure the before that chest pumping, they had a major case of angina.
and lastly, since we will probably hear it all week on sports radio, I start early...Donovan who? Give the keys to the ship to Feeley.
It was also nice not seeing D-Mac's smug smile on the sideline every ten seconds.

McNabb Out
It was officially announced earlier today that Donovan McNabb will be inactive for tomorrow's predicted slaughter versus the undefeated New England Patriots. Backup QB AJ Feeley will be starting and depending on how the game is going, we may see rookie QB Kevin Kolb as well.
Can't say that I am surprised by this move, given McNabb's injury, the fact the Feeley took most of the snaps with the first team this week, and most importantly, that the Eagles are expected to get killed. I heard one commentator refer to it as the Boston Massacre.
I don't expect to stay up for the whole game since it starts at 2015. Hopefully Feeley can at least keep it competitive and not too embarrassing.

Eagles/Patriots
Talk about what looks to be a boring game, and the way that the Patriots are playing, the Eagles look like they have no prayer to win Sunday in Foxboro.
QB Donovan McNabb, is nursing an ankle and now a thumb injury is day to day. Personally I don't think he is going to play. If I were Andy Reid, I'd sit McNabb, and let A.J. Feeley start the game, and if the game gets really out of hand, bring in rookie Kevin Kolb to get him some experience.
The over/under I believe is 70 and the line is 22 points.
My hope is that the Eagles at least make it somewhat competitive, and not as boring as the last couple of Patriots game .

Eagles 17 Dolphins 7
Well it wasn't pretty, especially the first ½, but the Eagles managed to come up with a win today here in a rainy Philadelphia. QB Donovan McNabb had to leave the game midway through the second half and was out for the remainder of the game. Early reports indicate an ankle injury. Backup Quarterback, A.J. Feeley, did a pretty good job filling in for the remainder of the game, completing 13/19 passes for 116 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. McNabb however had one of the shittiest games he has had in a long time, completing 3/13 passes, for 34 yards, and throwing two costly interception, both in the red zone, and no where near any green jersey's.
The star of today's game however was running back Brian Westbrook, who, had a career game today. Rusihing the ball 32 times for, 148 yards, although his receiving game was way off today, catching only one pass for zero yards.
Major props need to go out to the defenses who played a heck of a game, allowing no touchdowns, and holding the Dolphins offense to just under 200 yards of net offense, and keeping newly promoted quarterback John Beck to 109 yards, on 9/22 in passing.
The Eagles special teams were the big goats today, giving up the only touchdown, on a second quarter 87 yard punt return by Ted Ginn, which was probably the only spark the Dolphins showed today.
Should be interesting to see how this McNabb injury plays out. They travel to New England next week for a Sunday night showdown, against of the as of this post, are still undefeated.
Although it was an ugly win, it gets the Eagles to .500, and still keeps their slim playoff chance alive.
McNabb's injury was probably the spark the Eagles needed to get their momentum on.

Eagles 33 Redskins 25
In a game that was a nail biter until the end the Eagles prevailed over division rival Washington Redskins, in memorable fashion. Running Back Brian Westbrook proved once again how invaluable he is to this team, accounting for three touchdowns, two in the air, and one on the ground. He also put up big offensive numbers; 100 yards rushing on twenty carries, and was the teams leading receiver with five catches for 83 yards, including a 57 yarder for a touchdown, that was all finesse, with some great blocking from the offensive line.
This win brings the Eagles to 4-5 for the season, and gives them a much needed win against a division opponent, as they have lost three games against division rivals so far this season.
QB Donovan McNabb, played a heck of a game, completing 20 of 28 passes for 251 yards, and four touchdowns. Most of his incompletion's were what McNabb is best known for, over the receivers heads, into the ground, or trying to force a pass into coverage that he should have thrown away. His good play however, was almost overshadowed by his fumble after the Eagles had themselves recovered a fumble only the play before. It was the subsequent offensive series that the Eagles defense really showed their stuff.
I would be doing the Eagles defense a huge disservice if I did not give them their props for they stubbornness on a late fourth quarter red zone drive that held the Redskins to only a field goal.
The Redskins had the momentum most of the game, then the Eagles offensive came out of its slump and put up three touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Next up for the Eagles is the 0-9 Miami Dolphins come to the Linc. If the Eagles win that game it would take them to .500 on the season.
Overall it was a very well played game. Both the offense and defense played well above average, and looked like the Philadelphia Eagles we all know and love. This victory should keep the bandwagon at least ¾ full. I know I am still on.

Eagles 17 Cowboys 38
In another embarrassing showing on national TV, the Eagles in grand style got their asses kicked by the Dallas Cowboys 38-17. Another piss poor performance by QB Donovan McNabb, while on the other side of the field, Tony Romo had a near perfect game completing 20 of 25 passes for 324 yards and three touchdowns. Terrell Owens still showed the nation that he is still a player, catch ten passes for 174 yards and one touchdown.
For the first time in a long time, I am chagrined about being an Eagles fan. I understand that there are ebbs and flows in the National Football League, but this teams lack of performance, save for a few players, mostly Brian Westbrook, who in my opinion is having a pro bowl year, and most of all execution on the field is less than stellar and very inconsistent.
As much as I hate to point fingers, I am going to start with head coach Andy Reid. His off the field problems with his family are very public, in fact there was quite amount of time dedicated to it last night, have to be a contributing factor to this teams performance of late. I also blame management for letting two marquee receivers like Owens and Stallworth leave the city and go on to greater things elsewhere. The lack of the team to pick up quality receivers is showing, and it also doesn't help when you have a quarterback who either throws it to the ground or in the 200 level of the stadium.
Since the season is pretty much all but over, I think its time to bring in quarterbacks Feeley and Kolb, and let them get some repetitions. The Eagles are now 3-5, have lost three games to division opponents and are going have a few tough games coming up. I doubt the Eagles will even be a .500 team this year, maybe 7-9 at best.
The shot's of the fan's in the stands last night pretty much sum's up a lot of how the town is feeling. We are such huge supporters of this team, but I for one would like to see some effort out there.

Prime Time And Nationwide
What is usually the biggest home game of the year on the Philadelphia Eagles, the much abhorred Dallas Cowboys come to town in a prime time game. The cowboys are now 6-1 and have been on a roll since the beginning of the year, and the Eagles are still trying to right the ship that is listing badly to port, must win this game to even up their record to 4-4 and keep their tenuous playoff hopes alive, since they have already lost to two division opponents, (Giants and Redskins).
A win over the Cowboys would electrify this city, especially a prime time game. Terrell Owens makes his second return to Philly since his departure two years ago, and continues to run his mouth, but also back it up...that being said, I still wish he was here.
QB Tony Romo, is making his first start since signing a multi year contract extension, so let's see if he can perform up to his contract, for our sake, let's hope he spends a lot of time on his back, or at least seeing a lot of the Eagles linemen and linebackers in his face.
Free Safety Brian Dawkins is also expected to return to action tonight, if anything the defense gets back a veteran leader and motivator. Lets hope that b-dawk makes his presence felt and hammers a few of the Cowboys into the ground. That being said, his replacement Quintin Mikell has been phenomenal in Dawkins absence, and show good promise as a starter in the near future.
It should be an exciting game, and I am looking forward to watching it.

Eagles 23 Vikings 16
As I blogged earlier the Eagles squeaked out a victory in the land of 10,000 lakes. QB Donovan McNabb has at least temporarily silenced his critics, including this author, having a pretty good day, completing 23 of 36 passes for 333 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. He had TE LJ Smith wide open in the end zone, but threw it about ten feet over his head. McNabb spread the ball around pretty well, hitting seven different receivers.
The running game was very ineffective today. Brian Westbrook gained 46 yards on 21 carries, and had the same amount of receiving yardage on four catches. Why the Eagles kept running up the middle, when the Vikings were very efficient in clogging up the middle, and established that early on, yet the coaches kept dialing up the middle runs.
Overall it was a pretty evenly matched game with both teams not doing anything spectacular. Hopefully the Eagles will come out better next week against the Cowboys.
So the Eagles are now 3-4, not very respectable, but they still have a pulse.
